i like 26 its what i feel is best for me but no hate on 27.5-29
Great vid! ya 26er aint dead yet, my Enduro 26er still beats dudes with the
fancy wheels
Hi!! I love your channel, and I try and get out 5-6 times a week here in
New Zealand. However I have one major hindrance in my riding, and that is
steeps. I have quite an aggressive XC set up (3deg rise and relatively high
stem, but only 100m travel and seat high up), and when it gets to anything
steep I really struggle and usually slide down sideways. It’s frustrating
and I’m training for a long XC race in a month and half, so learning how to
combat these would be invaluable!
is 26″ dead?
yes.
end of story.
is that a Neil opinion or an official GMBN one?
+Global Mountain Bike Network Thought it probably was, there’s lots of 26
around here in the states. that said, like every good joke a kernel of
truth in there…. thanks for comment! -beth
+Beth Carroll It was just a joke, 26 is still alive but the manufacturers
probably think it is dead because they are n’t developing them anymore. neil
Hi from Portugal! Don, if 26 are dead, can you send me dead components for
my Gt force? A 160 mm fork, same good wheels, i realy need same dead
componentes! ;-), keap up the good work, realy love you vídeos.
+Rui Lourenço Thanks! It was a joke by the way, 26 isn’t dead just yet. Neil
You guys are CLASS!! the best mtb channel on youtube by a country mile.
Keep it up 😀
Big love from yorkshire
26 for life
at lest 26is nible, ligter, more avalible and more classic
Hi have you got any good ways to carry tube, co2 and a tool I don’t really
want a pack ? Thanks
From my experience I have ridden mountain bikes in the past with clipless
pedals for about 3 years I stopped riding for some time but bought a new
bike and I’m using flat pedals now I don’t want to go back to clipless
pedals until I can manual and whelie correctly, with clipless pedals I did
not practice this techniques as much as needed because you feel that you
can fall back and won’t be able to take your feet out of the pedals.
26 dead? real enduro riders use 26. 650b is just a fad that will pass. of
all people i thought neil would be a 26er.
The tip about concentrating on the hips when turning is a gem ! Tried it
out this evening and was amazed at the effect. Had always put way too mich
emphasis on my shoulders, arms and hands. By pushing the hips to the outside
and turning them into the curve everything else just clicks into place !
Amazing after 20 years I can still learn something New ?
about that 350$ bike question: it’s really easy to think that you’ve
reached the maximum out of your first bike – cheaper bike/entry level,
especially if you give too much room in your head about that higher class
component mtb or even one with a carbon frame. The thing is, once you get
that good bike you just keep on traning and normally get faster – but you
say to yourself that it’s from the bike. And then comes a time where you
get to ride a bike similar to your old one, or maybe even buy a cheaper one
for those bad weather days, and you see that it wasn’t all about the bike
🙂 but still, the more expensive bike feels so good! :)
£350 goes a surprisingly long way in hard tailed MTBs
yeah i now, i was just lazy to search for the pound symbol 🙂 but you are
right that the difference is huge. in Bulgaria you can get a local brand
bike, 29er with X7 mixed with X9 set up for that money
it was a £350 bike so it was actually not a terrible bike.
Matt Stephens is getting into XC now? You should probably point him towards
flats given his clipless history.
hi Neil I’m very light so I struggle to manual could you do a video to
combat this
26 for life!
Slopestyle called, it says 26 ain’t dead
Is there any way to lock the rear suspension to experience better Mountain
Biking?
26 aint dead!
26 is not dead
For the person who worried his bike was holding him back – I rode a rigid
bike for my first 20 years of riding – an 18 speed – trust me, nothing
better than going up a steep climb and ride past the people with their
expensive full suspension bikes (well, the ones who made fun of my bike as
they rode by). At the end of the day, if you enjoy your bike, I think ride
it. I have moved up to a 29er with full suspension – it is a pleasure to
ride but I still have much nostalgia for my old rigid bike…
26 is not dead. In 5 years everyone will realise that their big bikes are
stupid and will be back on 26.
Dear Don,
one thing I think you forgot about the back pain during climbs is a heavy
backpack. I noticed a huge difference when I started carrying my shin
guards on my top tube.
(I only do that on climbs. On descents I obviously have them on my shins.
:D)
Btw, if we’re not Twitter or Facebook users, how do we ask the Don?
Thanks in advance,
your fan
Anyone knows which knee pads Neil wears?
do a vidio on how to train and stay fit at off season when biking is not
possible
+Iesaacejs bike always possible. just need proper clothes so you don’t
freeze. ever been riding on a snowy trail? i have and it’s awesome.
