Last year’s Red Bull Hardline MTB track was one of the most demanding ever seen, pushing the sport of downhill mountain biking to the limit. Huge rock gardens, giant slab rolls, tight wood sections, technical natural features and the now infamous road gap created a track to push downhill racing to the next level.

This year, Dan Atherton set about raising the bar once again. Here we see Dan’s brother and former World Champion, Gee Atherton, testing the track for the first time, giving us a glimpse of what the riders will experience this weekend.

Just gets gnarlier and gnarlier … #GoPro
100 kmh
probably a hero 4 or 3. google it
+GoPro hi, can u tell me how many frames p/s this camera is? and how is the qualitty? thxs (sorry any grammar errors but im not english )
And it came to pass, that I became part of the tree, and my companion inquired of me, “what is broken?”, and I replied unto him “what isn’t?”, and a great, roaring, levitating iron carriage delivered me to a healer, who said unto me “you did convey yourself on two wheels as a diversion, and now those two wheels you must convey yourself on forever more, but parallel instead of one behind the other”.
good work
Longinus from fc4? Lol
yellowfolder beautiful
yellowfolder that comment deserves a screenshot
One day very soon I will watch this in virtual reality while riding a stationary bike.
it is impossible to simulate the g forces you experience in reality, unless you connect your brain directly to the videogame which I don’t think will ever be possible.
He will have it all, adrenaline, sweat, excitement. He will lose weight, build leg muscle, just like you. But without the injuries. You can put your vr environment + stationary bike in a hut in the woods to hear the birds singing around you. But for your own health sake, do not do it in real life.
People died because of what you do. Don’t risk death, your future self will thank you for it.
savage
+SmokinJoe Frazier People who can’t ride bikes may be able to with virtual reality.
yeah like when youre 70 years old…if im still very young and free ill try do this for real haha! younger kids has faster rate of recovery if they get injured doing this as long it does not kills you.
Now go back and do it again and don’t skip the big jump.
Good job
+vybtom1
If I recall correctly, the jump was built too high and a different tester had broken his ankle testing it earlier, so he skipped it.
The jump was built badly so it would be too dangerous. If you followed Hardline you would know that;-)
Adrian Stovell Yes. I wonder I it had a bad approach and was difficult to get the proper speed. Looks like an easy jump to screw up on.
@Adrian Stovell Link, bro no link no like, link, link. LINK
LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I would crash so much lol…do they memorize the trails?
perhaps a co driver giving him notes just like in rallying
I imagine that many of them CAN do a track like this on the first try with 100 percent commitment, but the room for error almost vanishes on a trail this fast and narrow so it’s much MUCH riskier.
Nishad Naik You would crash once and it would fucking kill you
I don’t know anything about MTB but 3:00-3:20 looks absolutely nuts. This video is amazing.
+Snazzy Labs Fancy seeing you here. Man I know if I was on that coarse I would be riding full force on my brakes
+Snazzy Labs I bet you could actually do that part but just about 2-3x slower. At the speed that guy is going though, nuts is a very good word you used there 🙂
Also I wouldn’t be doing those jumps if I were you. Rip ankles if you don’t clear them…
+Snazzy Labs I tried something similar once, without knowing that it would be so nuts (1st lap). I lost connection with the pedals even with tight clip, miraculously managed to keep balance, but RIP balls. Had to ride 4km on a demanding course with sore balls with the size of golfballs. T’was a good day.
0:00 to 4:28 was absolutely nuts..
10/10 would not try thyself
After 3 or 4 practice watches I became quite good at watching this.
can a hardtail handle this course?
You could, but it would have to be a extremely strong hard tail because there’s nothing to soak up the bumps at the back so the frame would take the punishment instead of the suspension. And it wouldn’t be able to handle the jumps well either.
yes but it would be terribly uncomfortable with all the rocks
