Jumping on a hardtail? Techniques? Limits? Is it bad for the bike?
i love your videos :-)
how can i lift the rear wheel with a hardtrail?
Can I upgrade my Scott Spark 740 2014 front Fork from travel 120mm to 150mm
fork? Danger for ride?
What bike do you own as your personal? Do you always ride scott? Why and
which model? Thx. ;)
can I do a manual on a hardtail??
What pedal should i use to do the bunny hop?
Hi, if you’re struggling with raising your back wheel up, when moving your
weight forward/up, make sure you transfer that weight to the handlerbars or
in other words “push the handlebars forward” as well. If you’ll just shift
your weight forward, or jump off the bike, and bend your arms at the same
time, the back wheel will stay on the ground.
You can try the “bunnyhop” while standing still next to the bike. Lift the
front wheel high up (hold the back brake), then swiftly push the handlebars
forward, and the back wheel will lift of the floor, because the bike
rotates around its center of mass, which is somewhere in the middle of the
frame.
You just have to achieve the same rotation of the bike while you’re on it 🙂
I hope that tip helps somebody.
hey could you do a video on xc race starts.cheers
Super
My Request: How do you handle jumps that are very steep? Most jumps have a
nice roll off to the top of them where you can essentially just hit them
and your bike naturally wants to jump forward. However, on a few trails
I’ve come across “jumps” that are VERY steep, and if you just hit them
normally (at the pace you’d hit normal jumps) your back end will be sent up
in the air and you’ll flip. Basically the jump converts too much of your
forward momentum to upward momentum and generally (for me) it’s a really
uncomfortable feeling. I usually just slow down and pump really hard before
the jump and pull the back end up really hard so that the jump doesn’t push
me off my bike and I just try to lift myself over it. Thoughts?
sooo…it’s basically an ollie?
I have a hardtail, Its hard to take the corners fast when they are slippery
with small rocks. Should I change my saddle height, adjust my suspension or
use brakes?
model of your new scott bike?
“Practise your manuals” … There’s no S in practice. Sorry to be a grammar
nazi
What kind of gloves should I buy if I’m starting to get into the sport of
mtn biking
Fantastic! Great explanations!
I would like to get a few questions answered by the Don!
1) First and most important: When im riding my rigid 80s/90s spare bike for
the salt/brine, i struggle in downhills with a lot of rocks and roots to
stay on the (flat) pedals. The bike controls me rather than me controlling
the bike and hanging on and making the turn becomes the main objective
rather than control the bike. Is dropping the heels the trick? Or is there
a other and better answer to hang on and get more in control of the bike?
2) Second: Are you guys gonna make a vid about making a stoppie like Marc
Beaumont made in the Mountain Bike Jargon Buster – MTB Terms Explained vid (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhvTR6DTR4k at 0:06) Looked ace!
3) Third and last: How to make the best of a dropoff/flat landing with the
least amount of damage to the rims, wich technique is the best for this?
Loved the vids from the start of the channel, keep going guys! Greetings
from a XC rider from the Netherlands
PS. Would like to see a vid with Si, the Don and Marc on a BMX racetrack
with a lot of pumping and whips. Have one of you guys ever raced BMX
Supercross? Do you know other good BMX technics like pumping and whips wich
we can crossover to XC riding? +Global Mountain Bike Network
Brilliant vid
Ask the Don: Bring back the Santa Cruz Nomad please
Coming from a trials and bmx background, which neither of which its a good
idea to use clips in,, scooping is one of the most important pieces of
doing a bunny-hop and often the most difficult. This is where you can have
all the other components perfect but still not be able to bunny hop. If
done correctly, your foot will never slip off of your platforms and will
actually be safer to do this maneuver on platforms because the
“bail-ability” as i like to call it ;).
BUNNY HOP TIPS: Any who, stand over your toptube with your “bad foot” (the
foot that will be to the back when you bunny hop ,for me I am right foot
forward so it will be my left foot, for you it could be different) and put
your bad foot at the 3 oclock position,( crank will be pointing to your
rear wheel) and try to pick up your rear wheel just like that. This is the
motion you need to do in order to successfully scoop your rear wheel.
That motion is also great for tight and technical corners as you can swing
your rear wheel independently.
i have a coil suspension for and i wanted to know
1) what is the benefits/ disadvantages
2) whats the difference between coil and air forks
3) is there anything i need to know about a coil fork cos i can only find
info on air forks
Could the Don give some tips on cornering on lose over hard pack especially
on flat corners, I always struggle to keep the speed on.
What shorts is that?
is there any difference between horizontal and vertical middle suspension??
