if coil is so good why is sam hill dominating on rockshox air suspension!!! Ha. I smell bullcr*p
because he isn’t sponsored by ohlins
Sam would win even on a hardtail 🙂
Its all About personal Preferences
We all know that technically- clipped pedals should be faster and more efficient. Sam Hill still absolutely smashes it on flats!
The answer to your question is not related to air or coil, it’s related to the rider
Same Salamander Workshop from Portland?
Slightly ironic how at one minute RedBull’s saying it doesn’t matter whether you ride flats or clips, then the next acting like coil is god’s gift to mountain biking. sick video regardless haha
The emphatic shift in the video was rather disjointed, for sure. That said I recently went from an admittedly worn old air shock to a 2017 Fox Van(illa) coil (no lockout or high-end perks on closeout sale to replace the cashed air can with Pro-Pedal) and I love the feel of coil suspension. The weight, even with the cheaper heavy spring instead of the light version, doesn’t register to me as much as heavier tires do. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks for me and I don’t even do altitude. I am no pro, but damn, am I impressed with coil suspension, especially if one considers ‘what if’ scenarios of mechanical failure far from home/support outside of racing.
It’s quite funny but air still has its advantages and they don’t talk about that
Congrats to Sam Hill and his eyebrows on the EWS title
i’d rather have season four of life behind bars
This series is the best
Glad to hear that, Joaquin! Did you check out this already?
ya sam! Flat pedals for the win!!
Damn this narration is so cringe-inducing.
REDBULL!!! Can we get some moto videos of this quality? Or even enduro? Follow Kalub Russell, Cody Webb… Comonnnnn
