GMC Denali Road Bike June 2015 Spring/Summer update.
Quick update while out on an early morning ride. HOT out today! 90 Plus degrees! WHEW!So after 2000 miles, the stock back rim needed truing. I heard a funny noise coming from the bike, turns out the spokes were coming loose. The next day as i was moving it out of my house, SNAP! I broke a spoke. So off to the shop it went.
Wheel is much better now. Quiet, smooth and straight. NO brake pad rub at all even after heavy breaking.
A couple of lessons:
First, If you hear weird noises coming from the bike, investigate asap. Try and check your gear before and after a long ride. You don’t have to run to the shop every time but learn some basic maintenance at least.
Second: Mark you bike! Seat height, angles, handlebars, stem height, etc. (thanks to Durian Rider) Getting the bike back from the shop, i found my seat height and stem height changed! On a wheel truing, no less. And no apology or explanation. Gee thanks.
Third: If you have a local shop you trust and treats you right, STICK WITH THEM. The shop i frequent the most had a 2 week min turnaround on repairs and was crowded. The second shop (that jacked up my bike) had a 2 day turnaround and the store was empty. Now i see why. If it was not for the long wait, i would have gone with my trusted shop. I almost wish i had waited, you know?
Stick with you trusted shop when you can. It may save you a huge headache in the future. How can i trust this other shop now that they repaired my bike, but changed the geometry of it with no reason or explanation?
Ok rant/off.
Take care, ride safe and see you out there.

Sorry about the sunspots glaring off the Garmin. Didn’t notice that till i saw the video loaded.
Bro, are you on Strava?
Beautiful Lake view! But be careful in that heat, stay hydrated!!! I can’t
do 90 degrees on my bike. 80-85 max lol.
I feel ya was 102 today where i am. Also jealous of your bike computer. I
have an old wired on but it has cadence so i use it.
Beautiful paved road in the intro. I’m getting my GMC back after a pretty
bad accident (she held up, but needed a tune up). Yes, its really hot here
in Cali as well. Hope you’re still having a good ride! Looking pretty sweet
with the Garmin on top
Quick Update while doing about 10 miles around the lake. About 90 plus
degrees.
