It’s worth saying that the easiest way to fix a rear mech hanger is to have a spare one with you. It seems a little unnecessary, but you’ll be grateful to have it when you need it. Depending on the nature of the impact, you will have to get your multi-tool out and replace your hanger. With that done, you can keep your ride going!

2:06 What I’ve learned from this video
How about direct mount derailleurs?
Video on night riding would be good!
Solid video. You guys should note to people that new hangers are not always
perfectly straight and can use a wee bit of bending to get it right. I know
they hanger alignment tools, but its something else to consider if the
gears are not shifting quite as crisp as before getting a new derailleur.
Did he just say put it in the easiest gear then shift it to the smallest
rear cog? I don’t think that is the easiest gear 1:34
where have all the Single Speed MTB gone?
GMBN can you do a video on how to change front and rear derailleur?
I’ve found that the hangers can be straightened about 3 times before
becoming too weak to last for any amount of time. Generally I fit HD
hangers up and just beat up the rear mech itself, as they seem to generally
be able to take a fair caning. I’ve found Shimano mechs are the weakest
(for my lower budget anyways) and my favourite mech to use is a Sunrace
M50. While they’re cheap and a bit heavy they seem to be able to be
absolutely thrashed and stay straight. I run one on my missile bike, and it
has an incredibly hard life, but most rear mechs are surprisingly strong.
Never thought of carrying an extra one. They are just lightweight aluminum
so no reason not to throw one in the pouch.
How does that lock on the mch hanger work? I have the same thing, jut never
used it to take the wheel off?
I could’ve used this video yesturday after i snapped mine and had to figure
it out by my self lol .
Great video tho
Remember when my hanger snapped in the preseli hills in Wales, 15 miles
from where I was staying!! was not fun
