Starting your first race might be daunting, but, racing is great. There’s quite a rush when you’re competing alongside fellow cyclists and testing your legs and strategic thinking, all at 30+kph. In fact, we can’t quite think of anything that compares to it.
The weeks and days running up to your first race are where you’ll really make the difference. Training, tapering and resting will all help your performance. What’s your top tip for road racing? Tell us in the comments.

I did my first road race yesterday I had a lot of fun but I wish I made
good on my promise to come in top 10 I made it in top 30 I need more
training and less back pain I had back pain when the attacks started any
advice on what could’ve made my back hurt so much
Helpful advice.
Want to do my first race which would be an a4, 20 mins +3 laps. I have no
idea in general what the average speed would be around at this level and
I’m really curious to know to gauge if I’m fit enough, would 35kph sound
right any ideas?
