Cycling Tips : Which Bike To Buy Alloy or Carbon Whats Best
Tips on what bike to buy for newbie’s to cycling, If your new to cycling deciding on what sort of bike to buy whether alloy or carbon can be a task in it’s self.
When i started riding again i borrowed a friends alloy bike for about 6 weeks to test the waters and see if i liked it out on the bike again, once i decided cycling was for me i then bought myself a new carbon bike.
Carbon is much smoother to ride on than alloy and lighter for hill climbing, so if your going to be out on the bike a lot then go the carbon, but if your only going to using the bike now and then maybe look at the cheaper alloy bikes.
I got my first carbon road bike on May 21st…a Cube Agree GTC, and I have
to say I love it…..keep up the good work, Jason / Aussie Mountain Goat…
I have mixed feelings about carbon bikes to be honest. I started off on an
alloy bike as well, it was a GT gtr series bike with SRAM Apex and it was
an amazing bike, light, lively when I hammered down, and relatively comfy.
Eventually, I got the urge to upgrade and bought a carbon Wilier with
Campagnolo Athena 11 drivetrain, I have to say I was expecting a lot more,
maybe too much. The carbon definitely absorbed to road vibration better,
but my frame also feels like it was carved out of a single block of wood, I
kind of miss that “springy” feel the alloy bike had. It’s not particularly
light either. Some of my PR’s on Strava that still stand were from a few
years ago on the alloy bike.
I could rant about how overrated and annoying Campagnolo is too, but maybe
another time.
