Typically, the most efficient way to climb is in the saddle. This makes the best use of your gluteal muscles and places less anaerobic stress on the body. Spinning a lower gear while seated will also keep your legs fresher for longer.
Get out of the saddle on a climb to add a short burst of speed or just to stretch the legs. It can also be useful to stand on the pedals when the pitch gets a little steeper. Use this technique sparingly, as it can use up more energy than a seated effort.

Nice to see Box Hill on GCN.
classy looking jersey this time
when I ride on tops I usually put my palms down on the cockpit and the
fingers are dangling in the air or fixed in a relaxed semi-closed fist
position. This is very comfortable for me on medium gravel on straight
sections or when climbing
you say the cadence should be 75-90. I feel most comfortable at 105-110 (my
club calls my chris froome). people have told me to slow down but then I
lose speed and I tire faster.
bottom line, spin at a cadence that you are comfortable with.
Make a video about how to recover if you go to hard on a ride
Since when does Matt ride a Cervelo?!
2:00 Typical (stereotypical) BMW driver. No care for other cyclists…
Previous experience to back this statement.
Good old Box Hill
The best tip for out of the saddle riding- never rush when getting out on a
climb- push same power as seated.
For all those people asking about Matt’s GCN kit, the clue is in the title
of this video “Ridesmart” in association with British Cycling. And BC is
sponsored by Adidas and use Cervelo bikes.
